manages project documents for Blaze Construction (Blaze).

Challenge
Blaze is a construction and engineering based company that specializes in
both superstructure and
substructure infrastructure work. This includes geo-technical work,
bored pile & micro pile work, design and construction of properties,
and other construction related activities. As with many engineering
based companies, Blaze manages a lot of tender documents &
specifications, CAD drawings, manuals, general correspondences and faxes
and a great variety of project related documents. Most of these
documents are received in paper format but some are generated in
electronic format.

DocControl Solution
DocControl was implemented to handle
these documents by firstly providing a centralized indexing station. The
implementation also forced Blaze to re-think their manual system and use
a standardized document type structure with common naming conventions.
The DocControl system accepts all document types, stores them
automatically in pre-determined folders, and makes them readily
available via network to all Blaze’s employees. Workers can now
retrieve and work quickly with their documents – whether it is to
read, print, email, copy, or distribute the information electronically
to other people.
